I selected Scat Crankshafts to supply the vitals for the engine internals, which comprised of their 4340 Lightweight Billet Crankshaft and a set of 4340 Forged H-Beam connecting rods with ARP 625+ grade fasteners. Scat offers 2 Crankshafts as well as anything you want custom, one being the standard stroke and the another being an increased stroke. Although I opted for a standard stoke engine who knows maybe an increased stroke is in the future. When the time comes to put all of these items to work I plan on weighing the crank vs. the stock crank to see the weight saving although I do feel that the weight from the crank will be better measured in the ability for the engine to climb the RPM’s with more haste.
The Scat rods ability to withstand 1000WHP and 10,000 RPM’s will easily fill the need for strength that I desire, although I did opt for increased strength from the fasters upgrading from the standard 2000 grade ARP to the 625+. As the motor heads off to the machine shop and Yimi Sport Tuning prepares for what will likely be a hectic month of February more updates will be coming soon. The deadline for the season is quickly approaching meaning it’s crunch time and I need to get to work!
